chevelleOur Straight Axle Gasser front suspension is now available as a replacement subframe for any GM A-Body with a stock chassis or as a universal kit for any car or pickup. This complete easy-to-graft subframe will raise the nose of your A-Body. The front-steer leaf-spring suspension includes everything you'll need to install it into a stock frame. The straight axle assembly is complete with tube axle (any width), leaf springs (rated at 2500 lbs. for the pair) with front shackles and rear frame brackets, shocks with frame mount brackets, new early Ford spindles with bolt-on Super Bell straight steering arms, new cross-steer Vega steering box with 2-inch dropped Pitman arm and cross-steer drag link and tie-rod. It features Wilwood 4-piston calipers with 10-3/4-inch rotors with a 5-on-4-3/4 wheel bolt-pattern to fit inside nostalgic 15-inch wheels. We offer steering linkage hook-up kits, new ididit steering columns, and disc-drum brake kits that plumb into your existing brake system. Any of our parts are available separately. Ask about our rear Gasser Ladder-Bar subframe without all the ladder-bar binding problems.


 
The basic cast iron Vega steering box comes with our standard subframe package; however we do have an optional chromed Vega box for more sparkle. The Vega box mounts to our frame bracket with three ½-inch thick spacers to clear the side of the casting. Notice we also provide a 2-inch dropped Pitman arm for the cross-steer drag link to the right spindle. The straight axle is available in different widths. It features Ford king pins, spindles, Super Bell steering arms, the left (shown) and right steering arm features two holes for the Vega cross steering. We have added adjustable steering stops to the axle. The spindles come fully loaded with bearings packed, rotors and hubs mounted with 4-piston calipers loaded with pads and safety wired. All you have to do is install the king pins through the spindles. Assembly will go real fast after the grafting is done. The Vega steering box has a splined input-shaft, and will connect to the bottom of your existing steering column with the optional 2 joint steering hook-up kit we offer. We are also dealers for Ididit and Flaming River and have columns if you would like to replace your old column with a new tilt model. We also have dual-chamber master cylinder brake kits with proportioning valves that plumb into your existing brake system. front steer

 

horn Looking at the frame horn, you can see the bumper-bracket mounting holes are in their stock locations. The tacked center bung and slot will allow you to achieve the proper bumper alignment, just like the factory. The non-threaded bungs are designed for nuts/bolts. (1964-67 bumper bolt pattern shown)
 
Our Straight Axle Gasser front suspension does require welding on the chassis. The grafting section and rear spring hanger both require welding. hanger
