Since we use rack-and-pinion steering on most all of our IFS and chassis, for early cars, and their existing steering columns are not compatible with the modern splined racks, we offer a complete line of columns and all parts that connect to the columns. This way we can offer you everything you need to complete your project at one shop, with competitive industry standard prices.

The TOP COLUMN is the correct length, non-tilt style ididit unit for 1953-62 Corvettes. The CENTER ididit tilt-column is the one that can be used with transmission floor-shift cars. This is great for pickups or passenger cars where a column shift is not required or not wanted. The LOWER COLUMN is specifically for tri-five Chevys. This is the correct length ididit column-shift with tilt. This 1955-7 Chevy column is complete with a neutral safety switch shown near the bottom outside of the tube. Just above the column (center) is a “plug-in” crossover kit for tri-fives so you can add flashers to a stock tri-five electrically system.
All of the columns are shown with a multi-pin connector, coming out of the column tube. Most aftermarket wiring systems include a compatible “pig-tail” that connect their wiring kit to the ididit column’s turn-signals and flashers through this multi-pin connector. Since we are dealers for ididit and Flaming River, we carry a complete line of column accessories to complete your Jim Meyer IFS or chassis order. We offer 3 different styles of lower-column floor hold-down brackets, shown at the ends of each column. Column drops, Flaming River nickel-plated and forged trunnion U-joints, flat-sided steering shafts, steering support bearings, steering wheel adapters and column: shift, tilt, and turn signal arms and column shift indicator and pointer are in stock at industry standard prices.
To hold the more modern ididit column with splined-shaft, Jim Meyer makes a firewall bracket (shown) that holds the end of the column to the firewall. Modifications will need to be made to the bottom of a stock column and this bracket is also featured in his lower column modification kit.
